Gingerbread Folk Gingerbread House Kit
Possibly one of the most exciting gluten free finds we've had so far, is the gluten free gingerbread house kit from the Gingerbread Folk.
This little company from the NSW Blue Mountains has created a whole range of gluten, and gluten free seasonal items, but the one that got our girl most excited, is their gingerbread house kit.
Her favourite activity to do on Christmas Eve, is to make a gingerbread house. She's done it for as long as I can remember, both here at home with her brother and in New Zealand with her cousins - no matter where we spend Christmas, she always makes a gingerbread house. So it was really important for us to try to make this happen, and finding this kit, got me off the hook from trying to bake gingerbread house pieces myself (thank goodness!)
The house was a little smaller than the traditional gluten kits, and it was a bit fiddly to put together. We also found we needed more icing to glue the pieces together, so that is something to be conscious of if you're making one yourself.
The gingerbread was also harder than I expected, definitely not as soft as gluten gingerbread, but it still tasted great, and made a beautiful centrepiece on the Christmas table.
At $49.99, it is on the more expensive side, even considering gluten free prices, but I do feel it's worth the price for the convenience - I can't imagine trying to bake gluten free gingerbread house pieces myself in the day or two before Christmas! It's also endorsed by Coeliac Australia!
