Mixed Berry Breakfast Smoothie
Our girl is a big fan of a breakfast on the run (she can be quite a slow mover in the mornings), and while she loves a Dairy Free Up and Go (did you know they're gluten free!?), I am conscious that they have a very high sugar content, and so try not to let her have them too often.
Thankfully, she loves a home made smoothie too - and while she's getting pretty good at making them herself, sometimes it's just quicker and easier if I make them for her, and to be honest, when I'm making one for her, I usually make one for myself too.
When I'm making them for her, I use a slightly different recipe to when I'm making one for myself, as I use protein.
For a kids gluten free smoothie, I use (per serve):
1 gluten free weet-bix
1/2 cup frozen fruit (she LOVES mango, but I've started adding some berries or 1/2 a banana as well)
1/2 scoop greens powder
1 cup lactose free milk (or plant based milk of your choice)
1 cup water (this offsets the thickness of the mango or banana)
For my smoothies, I use (per serve):
1 scoop gluten free protein powder (I love the Happy Way brand)
1/2 cup frozen fruit (I use mango or mixed berries)
1 scoop greens powder
1 cup lactose free or almond milk
1 cup water (this offsets the thickness of the mango)
I also usually add my powdered prescription supplements, as I don't like them in straight water.
If you have any great smoothie recipes, I'd love you to share them - we could all use a little variety in our lives!
